The cp1160
produces great black and white and color copies. Installation
was a breeze with our only complaint being that no cables were
included. USB, wireless and parallel connectivity is available
(USB for Mac users). The 1160 uses two ink cartridges (one black
and one tricolor) and four printheads (black, cyan, magenta,
yellow). The LCD display will let you know when a cartridge
requires replacement.
It's quite
speedy: 7-17ppm depending on mode (normal/draft). Photo quality
copies are available at up to 2400x1200dpi using premium photo
paper (available from HP). One neat feature not found on most
printers in this class is automatic two-sided printing.
Operation
is so easy you don't even have to read the manual (the LCD display
is quite informative). But ... read the manual anyway! :-).
Some accessories
are available including a 400-sheet input paper tray (very handy)
and a plug-in accessory for networking.
Phone support
is available from HP for one year after purchase but be prepared
to wait. Better choices are online support (web and e-mail).s
~$400 from
various on-line stores. Printheads are $33. Black cartridges
$33; Tricolor cartridges $26.
